TapAlong gameplay: neon notes falling down four lanes toward a glowing judgment line while Demo120 plays on Normal difficulty

How it works

The player's hands are playing the song — the chart is choreography for two thumbs.

Import a song you own

Pick any MP3, WAV, M4A, or AIFF up to 15 minutes from the iOS file picker. Four synthesized starter tracks are included so you can play immediately.

TapAlong charts it on-device

The analyzer finds the song's tempo, beats, accents, and sustains, then builds a four-lane chart with tap and hold notes. Identical audio yields identical charts — no randomness, and nothing is uploaded.

Play it at three difficulties

Notes fall down four lanes; tap the moment they reach the line, hold through the trails, and chase the full combo.

Built like a rhythm game should be

Every tap corresponds to something audible — performing the chart feels like being the drummer.

Charts from your own songs

Not a fixed catalog: your library is the tracklist. The on-device analyzer turns any song you own into playable choreography.

Latency that just works

Automatic Bluetooth latency compensation plus a tap-calibration wizard keep judgments honest on any headphones.

Haptics on every judgment

Feedback is tuned per judgment tier, so Perfect, Great, and Good each land differently under your thumbs.

Stats that make you better

High scores, full-combo and all-perfect badges, early/late timing statistics, and a toughest-moments timeline for every run.

Fully offline & private

No account, no uploads, no ads. Analysis and gameplay run entirely on your iPhone — your music never leaves it.

Fair, readable scoring

Perfect is ±45 ms, Great ±90 ms, Good ±135 ms. Grades run D through S — and 100% is always achievable by design.

Difficulties are identities, not thresholds

Each tier is its own way of hearing the song.

Easy — Ride the beat

One gesture at a time. Land on the pulse of the song and let it carry you.

Normal — Both thumbs

Two hands in play, with chords on the accents. The classic TapAlong experience.

Hard — Full choreography

Bursts, sustains, and everything the song is doing. Being the drummer, for real.

Frequently asked questions

Does TapAlong work with Apple Music or Spotify?

No. Streaming catalogs are DRM-protected, so apps can't read their audio. TapAlong imports audio files you own — MP3, WAV, M4A, or AIFF — through the standard iOS file picker.

What audio formats can I import?

MP3, WAV, M4A, and AIFF files up to 15 minutes long.

Does TapAlong work offline?

Yes. Song analysis and gameplay run entirely on your iPhone — no connection, account, or upload is ever required.

What devices does TapAlong support?

iPhone running iOS 17 or later. TapAlong 1.0 is designed for iPhone; iPads can run it in compatibility mode.

Is my music uploaded anywhere?

Never. Imported audio stays on your device — analysis happens on the phone itself and no audio ever leaves it.

How much does TapAlong cost?

TapAlong is free to play: four starter tracks plus three imported songs of your own. A single $2.99 purchase, TapAlong Pro, removes the import limit forever. There are no subscriptions and no ads.
